Frequently asked questions

Do I need to give my name or contact details to see quotes?

The quote tool doesn't require your name, contact information or email address—just gender, date of birth, your health status in general terms, tobacco use, the coverage amount you're interested in, and the term length. These six pieces of information are all that's needed for the carriers to provide their rates. Should you choose to apply, that's when your full name, address and health details get collected.

Are the monthly prices shown the price I will pay?

Each quote you see reflects the premium amount that carrier has established for the health bracket you indicated. After you submit an application, the carrier conducts its own underwriting review, which may result in a different final premium, health classification, or approval decision. These quotes should be understood as reference material and are not insurance commitments or price guarantees.

What happens when I click Apply?

After selecting Apply on a quote, you'll enter your name and be directed to a secure application form that's pre-filled with the information you already provided. This application runs on the carriers' system and is processed by Susman Insurance Agency, a California-licensed insurance agency (License 0B75129). You're able to save your work and come back to it, and when you're ready, you'll sign electronically.

Will I need a medical exam?

Whether you'll need a medical evaluation depends on the specific carrier, the coverage amount, and your health answers. Some carriers now expedite decisions for eligible applicants without requiring one; others may require an exam. The quote for each carrier will specify whether an exam is required, may be required, or is not required for that particular product.

Is a longer term better?

A policy term should span the years when your household would face financial hardship if your income stopped: typically when you have a mortgage, children at home, or business debts. Longer terms require larger monthly payments but hold your rate steady for more years. The quote tool makes it easy to see side-by-side comparisons across 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 year options.
